Woman dead, man arrested after alleged stabbing in Mascot unit


A man has been charged with murder following the alleged fatal stabbing of a woman in Sydney’s south on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to a unit block on Church Avenue in Mascot at about 6.10pm following reports of a domestic-related incident.

Police said officers from South Sydney Police Area Command arrived to find a woman with stab wounds.

She is yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be aged 59.

“She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however, she died at the scene,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The man, aged 61, was arrested and taken to Mascot police station, where he was later charged.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court on Monday.
